Omawumi: Biography, Songs, Marital Life And Net Worth

Omawumi, popularly known as her stage name, has her real name as Omawumi Megbele. She is a beautiful, skillful and highly talented Nigerian singer who rose to music fame after the MTN Project fame in 2007.

Omawumi was born in April 13, 1982 in Delta State Nigeria. She is an Itsekiri ethnic nationality and a daughter to Mrs. Aya Megbele (her mother) and Chief Dr. Frank as father. She emerges from a large family of 15 as the 12th of them, comprising of brothers and sisters to her parents. There is however no available information about her siblings.

 

 

Omawunmi’s Educational Background

Omawunmi had her primary education at Nana Primary School and College of Education Demonstration School in Warri, Delta State.

She later proceeded to have a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma Edo State in 2005.

 

Omawumi’s Music Career

Omawumi ventured into the music profession as a lawyer by profession.

Though she actually started her legal profession in Port Harcourt in a family Law firm called O.S. Megbele & Associates. It was in course of her profession, she had a breakthrough in music during the 2007 West Africa Idols competition which brought her up as among the best and thus emerged the runner-up of the highly competitive show.

She is currently making it big in the field of music and impressing her numerous fans.

Today, Omawunmi has abandoned the prestigious legal profession for music. Since her emergence in the industry, the Afro-pop singer is doing well and very comfortable with her adventurous career choice, and today she is one of the most celebrated female singers in Nigeria.

Though she lost to Timi Darkolo at the grand finale of the Talent Hunt, Omawumi had registered her footprint in the field of music, writing and producing her songs which later formed part of her debut album, ‘Wonder Woman’ released in November, 2009.

The marriage is happily blessed with two children, a boy and a girl. The couple dated for about four years before finally got married.
