Hadiza Aliyu also widely known as Hadiza Gabon is a Nigerian professional Actress, movie producer and a humanitarian, known for both Hausa and English movies.

Hadiza was born 1st of June 1989 in Libreville, Republic of Gabon, Hadiza Aliyu is the daughter of Malam Aliyu who is an elder statesman. Her father is of Gabonese national, and mother of Fulani tribe from Adamawa State, Nigeria.

 

Hadiza’s Educational Background

Hadiza Aliyu had her primary and secondary education in Libreville, Republic of Gabon where she obtained her first and secondary certificates respectively. She also did her A-Level programme with an aspiration to become a lawyer and later chose Law as her favourite degree course.

She started her University programme but had to drop out of school due to some issues that trailed her studies. This setback however gave her the opportunity to attend a diploma programme in French Language and later became a French-language teacher in a private school.

Hadiza’s Acting career

Hadiza Aliyu relocated to Adamawa, Nigeria from Gabon and joined Hausa movie industry, (Kannywood). She then moved from Adamawa to Kaduna and made her mind to join kannywood movie industry with her cousin.

Hadiza had the rare opportunity to meet Ali Nuhu and sought his assistance to become an actress. She eventually made her debut in 2009, where she was cast in ‘Artabu’. She became a star in kannywood movie industry as one of the leading female actresses with the help and guidance of Ali Nuhu and later Aminu Shariff.

Hadiza made her entry into Nollywood in 2017 and was featured in her first Nollywood movie alongside Mike Ezuruonye, Mike Angel and Emmanuella in a movie, ‘Lagos Real Fake Life’.

Her Humanitarian Work

As part of humanitarian work, Hadiza in 2016, founded a charitable organization known as HAG Foundation. Is a non-governmental organization created at improving the lives of the vulnerable in the society by way of providing help in the educational and healthcare sectors as well as food security.

The same year, 2016, she visited an internally displaced persons camps in Kano State where she donated food items, textile materials and other tangible items needed by the camp’s inhabitants displaced by violence in northern Nigeria.

Hadiza became one of the first actresses in the history of Kannywood to have offered such a humanitarian help.

 

The talented Kannywood actress, though born into an affluent family, has worked with a number of big brands as their ambassador. Hadiza serves as an Ambassador for MTN Nigeria and Indomie noodles companies.

In December 2018, Hadiza was announced by NASCON Allied Plc, a subordinate of Dangote Group, as Dangote Classic Seasoning’s brand ambassador during the official launch of the seasoning product in Kano.

Hadiza Gabon is also a politician. She was a firm supporter of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 Presidential election campaign period.

Controversy

Like every other human being on earth, the renowned Kannywood actress has had one setback or controversy. In 2019, there was news that the chief magistrate court ordered the arrest of Aliyu over failure to appear in court to clear allegations against her by her colleague Mustapha Naburaska.

Late 2022, Hadiza Aliyu was accused of breaking a marriage promise she made to a man called Bala Musa, a civil servant in his late forties.

The story had it that Musa claimed that he and Hadiza were on agreement to get marry but would work out after spending N396,000 on her.

According to Musa in court, “So far, I have spent N396,000 on her. Anytime she asks for money, I give her without hesitation with the hope that we will marry”.

Hadiza denied the allegation, saying she never knew the man.

The complainant’s counsel had presented a copy of the bank statement to the court and told the court that some four persons were the recipients of the money claimed to be sent to the defendant.

Two out of the four, Fatima Abdullahi and Abdullahi Yusuf claimed to be the defendant’s friend and personal assistant respectively.

In the end, they pleaded guilty to impersonating the actress and receiving money in her name and prayed court to forgive them.

Hadiza is a recipient of several awards and honours notably as:
• Best actress at 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards.
• She has also won the 2nd Kannywood/MTN Awards in the year 2014.
• In recognition of her distinguished career as an actress, Hadiza was awarded an honor in 2013 by the former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
• She was also awarded by African Hollywood Awards as Best Actress
• 2015 best supporting actress at Kannywood Film and Merit Awards.
• 2017 Recognition Award at Arewa Night Awards and several nominations and honours.

Hadiza’s Marital Life

Hadiza is not yet married. She revealed that a daughter that was widely speculated to be hers, is her niece, the  daughter of her sister, Maryam Gabon.
