Dr Tumi, known by his stage name, has his birth name as Tumisang Makweya. He is a medical doctor and one of South Africa’s most popular gospel singers.
He was born on 10 July 1981.
He is a certified medical doctor, having graduated with honours from the Medical University of Southern Africa (Medunsa) in 2006.
His Music Career
Dr Tumi made a career in gospel music after he successfully worked briefly in the public sector and setting up private medical practice in Pretoria.
He has made a big name for himself having combined his medical practice with music thereby bringing healing to South Africa and the entire world.
Not surprisingly, he is called a medical doctor and a spiritual doctor, in reference to his medical degree and his music ministry.

This 16-track gospel magic began with an amazing track titled, ‘Awesome God’ and ended on a ‘Happy’ note.
Dr Tumi also released another album, ‘Love On The Cross’, 20 track in all with a collaborative work with Ndlovu Mass Choir. The album which begins with ‘Ditheto’ ends with prayer, a deep number featuring PAROE Mike Makweya. The song is widely adjuged brilliant as ever.

Dr Tumi is happily married to Kgaegolo Makweya and the union is blessed with three children named Bokamoso, Khumoetlile, and Onalerona.
