Obi Cubana: Biography, Achievements And Net Worth

Obi Iyiegbu is his real name, but widely and fondly known as Obi Cubana and the CEO of Cubana Group. He is the Chairman of one of the top recreational centers and hotels in Nigeria under the name Cubana Group.

He is one of the young Igbo wealthy men whose wealth has attained an unimaginable top chart among the richest in the land with an estimated net worth of over $500 million dollars.

 

Obi Cubana was born on April 12, 1975. He hails from Oba, Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State in south eastern Nigeria.

 

Educational Background

Cubana attended Central Primary School and Dennis Memorial Grammar School in Onitsha, both in Anambra State respectively.

He later graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1998 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

 

His Business Career

Obi Cubana began as a Club manager, named Ibiza Club 2006. He made remarkable progress with the club which seeks to satisfy fun-seekers.

In 2009, he established Cubana, a hospitality Club that provides all-around entertainment satisfaction.

 

Obi Cubana’s business which had Owerri as his starting point, has today metamorphosed into various groups in Abuja and Lagos and indeed Nigeria.

Obi Cubana runs several businesses including most expensive hotels in Nigeria. He also owns houses (assets) across Nigeria.

In July 2023, Obi Cubana did a lavish celebration of his mother’s demise, a development that has never been seen in any quarter in the history of our country. Over 100 cows were said to have slaughtered which still remains the talk of the town to this day. He lost his mother in November 2020 and the burial couldn’t hold due to Covid 19’Pandemic.

 

In an interview, Cubana revealed that his dream of starting up Cubana business was as a result of the fact that entertainment is a means to escape all the stress of the world and improves the lives of Nigerians. This also led to having the Company’s slogan – ‘The World Is Yours’.

 

Obi Cubana is also a philanthropist who has impacted several lives. He was said to have established one Paschal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest. Paschal Okechukwu is the hypeman popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest. He was working in Aba as a shoemaker until he met Obi Iyiegbu, who changed his life.

During his highly celebrated mother’s burial, one million Naira each was given to about 300 youth in his community to enhance their businesses.

His Private Life

Obi Cubana got married to his lovely wife, Ebele Iyiegbu in 2008, and their union is blessed with four children, all boys. His wife is a lawyer and the CEO of the Kiek Foundation.
