Dayo D1 Adeneye: Biography, Achievements And Net Worth

Dayo D1 has his birth name as Adedayo Olumide Adeneye. He is a famous Nigerian DJ, brilliant tv presenter and former commissioner in Ogun State.

He was born on March 23, 1960 in Odogbolu, Ogun State. Dayo hails from Ogun State in south western Nigeria. D1 and Kenny Ogungbe have been partners in revolutionalizing the Nigerian entertainment industry since their return from America in 1996.

Educational Background

D-One had his primary education at St. Catherine’s Nursery and Primary School, Surulere Lagos and Ijebu-Ode Grammar School in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state where he obtained his higher School certificate respectively.

He also studied briefly at the Federal School of Arts and Science, Victoria Island, Lagos between 1980 and 1981. He went further to study at the prestigious Southern University of New Orleans, USA where he bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1985.

D1 later obtained a Masters’ degree in Mass Communication, majorly on Radio and Television production from Southern University, Baton Rouge, USA.

D1 Career

D1 began his entertainment career in the late nineties with record label, Kennis Music, which he founded alongside his close friend and partner, Kenny Ogungbe, shortly after their return from his studies abroad.

Prior to this development, D-One worked at Thrifty Corporation, Los Angeles, USA as an Assistant Manager between 1986 and 1989 and eventually rose to the position of a manager.

Dayo also worked with several education institutions at Los Angeles Unified School District, California, USA for good number of years.

In 1996, he returned to Nigeria with his brother and partner Kenny Ogungbe on the prodding of Keke’s in-law, Chief Raymond Dokpesi to establish Raypower and AIT. He has since served as non executive Director of DAAR Communications Plc.

The veteran has so far developed a corporate relationship with top leaders in Corporate Nigeria which includes GLO, Unilever Nigeria Plc, Coca-cola Plc, MTN Nigeria, Zain Nigeria and Guinness Nigeria Plc, to mention a few.

The media star alongside Kenny, charted a historic course in Nigeria’s music evolution, including taking Nigerian music to the Grammies.

The duo hosted the music programme AIT Jamz, that aired on AIT in the late nineties, later became PrimeTime Jamz on NTA.

Dayo and Kenny have also built on their career to become the father and mentor to many music celebrities in Nigeria today including the likes of Eedris Abdulkareem and Tony Tetuila), Sound Sultan, 2face Idibia (producing his first two solo albums) and Oritse Femi, among many others.

Their innovative ideas and touch of genius with Nigeria’s first 24-hour radio broadcast with Raypower FM, heralded a new all-round the clock culture, that later became the standard for local radio broadcast in Nigeria.

D-One and his partner have achieved a lot as their innovative ideas brought about the massive success of AIT and all the subsidiaries of DAAR Communications owned by High Chief (Dr.) Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi.

Dayo and Kenny have equally made several appearances at world events and concerts like Grammy Awards and many others.

He was also former Commissioner in Ogun State under Governor Ajimobi in 2015. He is also a family friend of DAAR Communications Plc.

D1 is prolific, creative, skillful and exceptionally talented presenter and music producer. He and his partner, Kenny have played a vital role in the growth and development of the industry through Kennis Music platform.

Dayo has been a pillar and source of inspiration to many up-coming Nigerian artistes in areas of promotion and production of various music. Many look up to him and Kenny as not only a father but a role Model in the Nigerian music industry.

Dayo D1 is the Co-CEO, Primetime Entertainment since 2001which is prized as Nigeria’s best entertainment Television and Radio program with an African entertainment perspective. He has served as director on boards of several groups which includes Sierra Global Communications Ltd and DC Group.
