Tara Durotoye is a famous Nigerian Yoruba born woman, founder and CEO of The House of Tara which made its debut in 1998.

She was born on March 6, 1977 in Lagos. She hails from Lagos State.

Tara Durotoye holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Lagos State University.

Durotoye is the owner and founder of The House of Tara, the first of its kind and adjudged the most vibrant and leading beauty brands in Nigeria and Africa at large.

The House of Tara opened the first make-up school in Nigeria in 2004 and has since grown steadily to become a formidable brand, which presently has over 270 beauty products, 24 international branches, 14 beauty schools, and over 10,000 representatives all over Africa.

In her words, Tara Fela-Durotoye states that she was and still “passionate about building a business that is sustainable and using beauty as its expression”, a vocation started by her mother “who was very fashionable, loved to apply her makeup”

Tara added that her mother was her major influence in achieving this laudable goal and praised her for making her to become a beauty merchant.

Tara recalled her days in the University, when her friends used to come around, asking for her help with their makeup or seeking makeup tips and advice.

The business grew to greater recognition and sooner than later, she became widely recognized on Campus, doing makeup for people which eventually gave birth to what we have as House of Tara.

According to Tara, “It made us look extra special”.

In the coming years, her brand experienced phenomenal growth, but not without challenges as they had difficulty convincing people who were not married to do makeup or have it done for their older sisters or relatives.

Culture, they say is dynamic. Over the years, people got interested in a whole different genre that hitherto was not in existence.

Determined to succeed, Tara Durotoye came up with product line, a development that received wide acceptance and recognition as indigenous brand owned by a Nigerian.

Inspite of the initial financial constrain, House of Tara soon attained the break which are today at a mature stage.

The House has since over two decades of existence has over 20 stores across the country with each store being managed by an administrator”.
