Charmaine Shamiso Mpambiro is her real name, but widely and professionally known as Sha Sha. She is a popular Zimbabwean singer and song writer based in South Africa.
She was born on June 13, 1994 in Mutare Zimbabwe, Southern Africa. Sha Sha grew up in both South Africa and Zimbabwe after her parents divorced at her early age.
Sha Sha’s Educational Background
Sha Sha went to 9 different schools, comprising of 5 elementary and 4 high schools in both South Africa and Zimbabwe respectively.
This was due largely to her shuttling between the two countries – Zimbabwe and South Africa after her parents separated and lived in different countries.
Sha Sha however made up her mind to study Nursing, but as fate would have it, made a full career in music as one of her recordings shot her to fame and recognition in the music space.
Sha Sha’s Music Career
Sha Sha kick-started her journey into the music world when one of her home recordings gained recognition in Zimbabwe’s big radio station in Harare (ZiFM).
Having found the song very good, the CEO of ZiFM encouraged her and linked her up with Audius Mtawarira, a top singer and songwriter in her country, who eventually became her mentor and helped her to build on her talents.
Over time, Sha Sha’s talents and hard work made her a music star to reckon with and she started collaborating with top artistes like Cal Vin, whom she made her first hit with.
Sha Sha was also linked with Dj Maphorisa in 2017 in South Africa and since then, has remained on the top music table, doing amazingly well in the music industry.
In 2018, Sha Sha was signed to DJ Maphorisa’s label, BlaqBoy Music.
The talented singer has so far released good number of Albums/EPs, including ‘Love Is Blind’, released on February 5th, 2019. The album was made up of 10 tracks. .
Sha Sha went further to release another hit album, ‘Blossom’. The album which has eight songs, was released on November 1, 2019 after she signed with Blaq Boy Music.
She also made tremendous contributions to the songs “Akulaleki” by Samthing Soweto, “Nge Thanda Wena” by Mlindo The Vocalist, and “We Mama” by Scorpion Kings.
The single “Woza” by Sha Sha was released on December 3, 2020.
In 2020, she won the Best New International Act at the BET Awards.
At the end of June 2022, she signed a management contract with Black Major.
Sha Sha, also widely and fondly called Queen of Amapiano, has worked with top music stars like Samthing Soweto, Scorpion Kings and Mlindo the Vocalist.
