She was born on the 6th of November, 1984 in Accra, Ghana to a Nigerian father and Ghanaian mother. She is from a large family with Yvonne as the first child in a family of five children. She had from very young age the desire to be an actress.
Yvonne attended Achimota Preparatory School and later at Lincoln Community School and then to Faith Montessori School in Ghana.
She continued at Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School after which she enrolled at University of Ghana, Legon where she bagged a Bachelor of Arts, combining English and Linguistics.
She was also at the Universite De Nantes in France to study Press Civilization, Drama and Marketing.
Yvonne Okoro began her acting career dated back to her preparatory school days, through her secondary at Mfanstiman Girls High School, down to the University where she proved herself good and confident on stage.
She made her screen debut in “Sticking to the Promise”, a 2002 movie produced by the Nigerian producer Theo Akatugba.
She also played a cameo role in the hit series Tentacles by the same producer for Point Blank Media Concepts.

• Nominated for Africa Movie Academy Awards for Best Actress twice in a row in 2011 and 2012 for her movies Pool Party and Single Six.

Aside acting, Yvonne made it known to Accra based radio Peace FM that she owns her own company Desamour Company Limited as well as other transport business.
Yvonne is a philanthropist. In 2019, she donated handsomely to the Black Queens of Ghana ahead of the 2019 WAFA tournament. At the beginning of 2020, she also made donation of some items to maternity ward of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Yvonne is not yet married but has a number of men out there to catch her attention. She however explained that she is not moved by their undue pressure.
It was rumoured that she dated a Nigerian billionaire and were ready to marry which she denied. It was also rumoured that a number of Ghanaian celebrities were on line to marry her which of course she debunked saying as a public figure, rumours were bound to make the rounds. She however revealed that she has a strong passion for an American actor, Tom Hardy.
