Linda Ifeoma Ikeji is her birth name, but simply and widely known as Linda Ikeji. She is a Nigerian blogger, writer, entrepreneur and former model. She is popular with her blog.

Linda was born September 19, 1980 into a Catholic family from Nkwerre, Imo State, Nigeria. Ikeji is the second child in the family and she grew up in Imo State in south eastern Nigeria. She began writing at the age of 10.

Linda Ikeji completed her secondary education at the age of 17. She later studied English language at the University of Lagos.

Linda began her blogging as a hobby in 2006. At that time, the internet was not as prominent as it is now in Nigeria and she had to make her posts at a Cybercafé.
Linda did various jobs including part-time jobs as a waitress, model and writer not only to meet ends but to assist her family.

She became an active blogger professionally in 2007 using a blogger sub-domain lindaikeji.blogspot.com and later obtained her domain www.lindaikejisblog.com.
Linda has since ventured into viable projects ranging from TV Network, Online Radio Broadcasting and many others.

On 22 August 2016, Linda announced the creation her Online TV network, Linda Ikeji TV alongside other brands via her blog. Linda Ikeji TV airs a variety of programmes ranging from talk shows, reality shows, TV series to Movies. The Network both produces some of its programmes and also buys TV contents.

Linda also ventured into Online Radio Broadcasting. The station is said to be operated from the Linda Ikeji Media Office in Lagos. Some of its programmes are broadcast live on Linda Ikeji TV.

Ikeji also opened a music platform known as LindaIkejiMusic. The project was launched on 21 November 2016. Three months after its Launch, it became dormant. The versatile young woman was ever determined to make it to the top and went ahead to launch yet another social networking platform named Linda Ikeji Social on the domain name LindaIkejiSocia.com.

Her Humanitarian Work

Ikeji also set up a non-profit project tagged “I’d Rather Be Self-Made; No Thanks”, a platform she revealed she uses to assist young girls, aged between 16 and 25 who have great business ideas and are willing to venture into entrepreneurship but have no capital to execute them.

Ikeji revealed she has given out the sum of Ten Million Naira in Phase 1 of the project. What a marvelous deed!
Recognition

Linda Ikeja has received global recognition in the course of her blog business. In August 2012, Forbes Africa dedicated itself to celebrating African women that month’s issue. In that issue, Forbes profiled Africa’s 20 Most Prominent Women and the issue featured profiles on two young Nigerian women: Linda Ikeji, as well as Chibundu Onuzo.

Of a truth, the name Linda Ikeji has become the most searched item by users of Google in Nigeria. She has become a force to reckon with both in social and electronic media in Nigeria and the entire world.

On 8 August 2018, Linda Ikeji made the list of eminent personalities drawn from different countries across multiple disciplines who were conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degree from Trinity International University in Georgia, United States for her outstanding job in Business and Media in Africa.

Controversies

Linda has made some controversial publications, notably about politician Doyin Okupe who described the publications as defamatory. This did not go down well with Ikeji as her blog was shut down on 8 October 2014 but restored on 10 October 2014 around midnight by Google for undisclosed reasons.

Commenting on the issue, Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s West Africa spokesperson, said: “We take violations of policies very seriously as such activities diminish the experience for our users. When we are notified of the existence of content that may violate our Terms of Service, we act quickly to review it and determine whether it actually violates our policies. If we determine that it does, we remove it immediately.”

Ikeji has equally done brilliant campaigns for celebrities like Funke Akindele, Richard Mofe Damijo, Djimon Honsou, Wizkid and Tonto Dikeh. SaveMayowa Campaign also made the list.

Ikeji got married to Sholaye Jeremi in December, 2015. The marriage which produced a son has since hit the rock as she took to her blog to detail reasons why her relationship with her son’s father could not continue.
