Holy Mallam widely known by his stage name, has his birth name as Adebayo Ajiboye. He is a popular Nigerian comedian who rose from grass to grace.
He used to stay in Festac town, but after a while, things started changing for them. The father had to sell their house in Festac and moved to Okoko.
From hawking bread and pure water to make ends meet, to cracking the ribs of the high and the mighty in the society and earning millions of Naira for making others laugh.
His Educational Background
Holy Mallam had his primary and secondary education in Lagos. He went further to have degree in Communication Arts at the Lagos State University.
He was also educated at the USAIDS and completed his programme as a Peer Health Educator with the USAIDS in 1999, with the best result.
Holy Mallam’s Career
Holy Mallam began his career attending courses and conferences and eventually emerged standing out. He did not know that he was being prepared for what he would become today.
Holy Mallam made his journey into comedy in 2000 in his local church, Ultimate Power Ministries when comedians used to come around and make people laugh. He was an instrumentalist then, playing conga and drums. He used to make the people around him laugh a lot, and they would ask him to do comedy in Church.
He eventually had his breakthrough at The Foursquare Campus Fellowship, then led by Pastor Seyi Jaiyeola organized an event at the LASU car park. He was introduced to the Pastor and after a brief audition, was given the opportunity to perform on stage. It was explosive giving him a lot of invitations to different churches, fellowships and events.
Holy Mallam also met someone who introduced him to a programme on NTA where he did about 26 episodes and got paid per episode. This eventually shot him to fame and recognition in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
It was during that time he did an event for Nestle in Ibadan and Lagos and got paid about N60, 000.
Holy Mallam revealed that the late Dr. Levi Ajuonumah trained him in that area. He also met Mr. Yinka Craig, Uncle Soni Irabor and Mr. Bisi Olatilo. He revealed he had the opportunity to shake President Bill Clinton when he came to Nigeria.
In the meantime, Holy Mallam is using the platform of ‘Good Hands’, my CSR project, to frequently visit schools to talk to young people on how to use education with their talents to affect their world positively.
His Personal Life
Holy Mallam got married to his lovely wife years now, a woman he met at a show; at the entrance of the hall taking data for registration. The marriage is blessed with lovely children. He disclosed they are best of friends. “She is such a down-to-earth person, and with her, what you see is what you get”.
Holy Malam also disclosed that he went through a lot of things in life and encourage people that are going through challenges, to build their hope in God, saying that when challenges come, it does not mean that God hates you or you are about to die.
The highly talented comedian said he is passionate about God, saying “80 % of everything I do is spiritual. I also love drumming, and encouraging young people. I enjoy being a business man too. I sing a bit too, I did a song in 2004, and Lagos state government liked it and made me an ambassador for LASTMA”, he concluded.
