She was born April, 16 1971 in Lagos state. She is from Osogbo in Osun State but had her up-bringing in Lagos.

Omoniyi had her primary education at Ire Akari Primary School and Isolo Comprehensive High School where she obtained her first and secondary school certificates respectively.

Omoniyi debuted into the Nigerian entertainment industry in 1995 first as a model owing to her physique. She subsequently became a make-up artist for actors before debuting her acting career in the Nigerian Nollywood movie industry in 1996 where she played short roles in English speaking movies.
Omoniyi acted her first movie, ‘Breaking Point’ before switching to the Nigerian Yoruba movie industry where she got the lead role in a movie, Lepa Shandy a Nigerian Yoruba movie produced by Bayowa. The movie was very successful and shot her to fame and recognition in Nollywood Yoruba movie industry.
