She was born on March 23, 1988 in Ika South Area of Delta State, to the parents of Andrew and Onyi Iyamah both of Ika (Agbor) origin. She is the third child in a family of four children.
Somkele attended Chrisland Schools, Ikeja Lagos. She also went to Grance School Lekki in Lagos where she was introduced to drama by an inspirational teacher.
Somkele holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from McMaster University.
Her Acting Career
Iyamah made her entry into Nollywood in 2013. She acted in her first movie where she played the role of Dreamwalker.
Iyamah has since starred in several Nollywood movies and television series, some of which are:
• A Soldier’s Story
• Lara and the Beat
• The Arbitration
• The Wedding Party
• 93 Days
• The Department among others.
Iyamah has also starred in television series including Gidi Up, Best Friends, Gidi Up (Pilot).
From 2013, she starred as Yvonne, a fashion designer, in the TV series, Gidi Up where she worked with O.C. Ukeje.
In 2016, Iyamah starred in 93 Days, The Wedding Party and The Arbitration in 2016 respectively. The movies were premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival which she attended and recognized as the first “Female international Rising Star”
She volunteered in several shows for Charity at McMaster and modelled during the holidays in Nigeria. Her site says this included work for Virgin Nigeria, Harp, ETB and Visafone Communications.
Iyamah is currently the Ambassador for MultiChoice’s DSTV Explora, the widest satellite cable network across Africa.

Somkele Iyamah is happily married to Aaron Idhalama, a Captain in one of the Nigerian Airlines and the marriage is blessed with Jordan Idhalama.
