Titilope Sonuga is her birth name but widely and fondly known as Titi Sonuga. She is a Nigerian poet, civil engineer and actress who spends her time between Lagos and Edmonton, Canada.

She was born on August 15, 1985 in Lagos, Nigeria. Titilope Sonuga moved to Edmonton, Canada at a young age of 13 where she had her complete education.

Titi’s Career

Sonuga worked for five years as an engineer, using her spare time to pursue her poetic and acting ambitions.
Sonuga won the 2011 Canadian Authors Association Emerging Writer Award, and the 2012 Maya Angelou Poetry Contest.

She established Rouge Poetry in Edmonton, a poetry slam series. In May 2015, she emerged the first poet to appear at a Nigerian presidential inauguration.

In 2016, Sonuga published a poetry collection. She has also performed in the Lagos International Poetry Festival.
Aside from poetry, the versatile and highly talented Sonuga has made a tremendous success in acting. She played the role of Eki in the second series of Ndani TV’s hit series ‘Gidi Up’ with OC Ukeje, Deyemi Okanlawon, Somkele Iyamah and Ikechukwu Onunaku.

Sonuga also features as Intel’s Ambassador for the She Will Connect Program across Nigeria. She wrote the critically acclaimed musical “Ada The Country” which was staged at the Agip Recital Hall of MUSON Center from Jan 2, 2020.

Titilpe Sonuga was one of the contestants of the Big Brother Naija 2020.

Her Personal Life

In 2015, Sonuga got married to a professional photographer, Seun Williams. She has since become a mother.
