Blackface Naija: Biography And Net Worth

Blackface Naija or simply Blackface has his birth name as Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo. He is a famous Nigerian dancehall, ragga, reggae singer and songwriter, best known as co-writer of “African Queen” with 2face Idibia.

Blackface was born in 1974 in Obalende Lagos but hails from Ogwule, Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

 

Blackface’s Educational Background

Blackface had his early education at Army Children School Otukpo in 1985 and Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School, Makurdi in 1991.
In 1996, he graduated from Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu with a National Diploma (ND) in Business Administration and Management.

Blackface’s Music Career

Blackface began his musical journey in 1997.
He started professionally as a founding member of the Nigerian band, Plantashun Boyz that he formed in 2000 with Tuface Idibia and musician Chibuzor Oji, better known as Faze.
He was co-writer of African Queen with 2face Idibia, a song made famous by solo album 2 Face in 2004 to become an international hit.

The duo met in their secondary school in Benue, with Faze joining them later in Enugu.
The band released two successful albums Body and Soul in 2000 and Sold Out in 2003.
The band sadly broke up in 2004, to be briefly re-united in 2007 for just one more album Plan B.

The talented Nigerian singer is said to have kept sustainable relations with Faze but this is not the case with 2face who many believed is as result of rights to the song “African Queen”.

After the defunct Plantashun Boiz in 2004, Blackface has since led a solo musical career.
The same year 2004, Blackface released the hip hop album Ghetto Child collaborating with a number of artists. The album has “Hard Life” featuring Alabai as the first single.

Blackface also recorded a full album for his crew D Tribunal called What We Are.

Blackface has so far released several albums, some of which are:
• Evergreen
• Jungle Fever
• Me
• Musiq and I
• Dancehall Business
• Prospective Defender.

In 2013, Blackface made a collaborative album 200 with Maine Eazz with numerous awards to his credit.

Blackface’s Marital Life

Blackface was married to Dayo for eight years and the union produced two children named Caroline and Alex. Sadly, the marriage has hit the rock with both couple going their separate way.
