Means Of Transportation In Nigeria

Transportation is a means whereby goods and passengers are carried from one place to another.

Means of Transportation are: Road, Sea, Air and Rail.

Road Transport:

This is transportation by land and is made possible through vehicles such as cars, buses, lorry, truck, vans etc.
People connected to road transport:- Pedestrian, driver, passengers, motorist, mechanic, panel beater, traffic police, traffic warden etc.

Places connected to Road transport: Express way, minor road, junction, major road, crossroad, round about, long park, bus station, garage, toll gate etc.

Some Items or words Connected to Road transport:- Brake, accelerator, steering, reverse, driving licence, Insurance certificate, Vehicle licence, traffic jam, traffic hold up.

Sea Transportation

Sea transportation is a form of the transportation where ships are vessel used to carry goods and passengers. They travel long distance between two or more countries. The ship that carry only passengers are known as passengers liners while the ship that carry goods are called cargo liners.

Cargo liners carry exports and import goods. Sea transportation is very important in conducting international trade. Other forms of sea transportation are Tankers which are built to carry liquid on Sea, such as Crude oil, which is transported by oil tankers from Nigeria to other parts of the world.

Air Transportation

Air transportation is the movement of people and goods through the Air.

People Involved:- Captain, Pilot, Steward/Stewardess, Airhost/hostess, Flight/Ground Crew, Air Traffic Controller, Maintenance Staff, Engineer, Custom/Immigration officers.

In summary, means of transportation, whether land, sea or air are very vital for movement of humans, goods and services from one place to another. They are connectors that have made Nigeria and the world at large a global village and add values and meanings to man’s existence.
