Ibidun Allison is her real name, but widely and professionally known as Amebo. She is a veteran actress who acted in Village Headmaster TV series.
Amebo was born in 1941 in Sapele, Delta State of Nigeria. She grew up there for sometime before she relocated back to Lagos.

Amebo went to Holy Child College Ikoyi in Lagos for my secondary school.
She was later trained a dramatist and an actress at the school of Drama in England and had done quite a number of plays in England.

Amebo’s journey into acting started right from her primary school when she was a very active child, participating at various concerts in school.
She later met the veteran actor Hubert Ogunde who was a pacesetter for her career in 1953 when she used to dance during festivals, going to peoples house to dance native dance like Calabar dance, Igbo and Itsekiri dance respectively.
She became globally known when she played the role of Amebo in “The Village Headmaster, which of course earned her that unique name. Since then, she has remained a force to reckon with in the Nigerian movie industry, thrilling and entertaining her numerous fans across the globe.
According to the veteran, “Amebo actually meant the favorite wife of a man, who has many wives. Amebo doesn’t mean a gossip. Amebo actually means a fvourite wife of a man who has more than one wife, so he tells her all the secrets, what is happening and what’s going to happen and so she tells people. She doesn’t lie. She embellished but she does not lie”.
The Man would choose to tell her all secrets as the case may be. This, Amebo would eventually reveal to people.

Amebo has been happily married to his lovely husband, Allison who hails from Ikorodu, Lagos. The marriage is blessed with children and grand children.
