Dan Imoudu (Prince Dagbolu): Biography, Movies And Net Worth

Dan Imoudu , also known as Prince Dagbolu, is a renowned Nigerian actor, successful businessman, and television personality and one of the cast of the new Village Headmaster.

He hails from Atogue, Etsako Local Government in Edo State. His parents are now of blessed memory. His father was then in the Customs and Excise which afforded him the opportunity to travel from one state to another. His actual date of birth is however not known.

 

Dan Imoudu’s Educational Background

Dan Imoudu went to so many schools because of his father’s job as a Customs officer.

He attended St Theresa Catholic School, Apapa and  Comprehensive High school, Ayetoro, both in Lagos for seven years where he did his A-levels in 1965.

He later on bagged a degree in Education, Political Science and History at the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria but in their first year, he and others were transferred to Bayero University in Kano, as it was initially a College under ABU.

Dan Imoudu’s Acting Career

Dan Imoudu worked for many years as a teacher in Lagos where he taught at National High School, Ebute Meta and Lagos State College of Science and Commerce.

It was at the time he combined his teaching profession with acting, doing stage performing at the NTA for the TV drama Play of the Week.

While at NTA then, he was involved in TV dramas like For Better for Worse, Play of the Week and later, Village Headmaster.

Prior to his full career in acting, Dan was introduced into acting in his form one in Ayetoro. The turning point in his acting career came when Dr. Bullock was transferred from Government College Ibadan to Ayetoro raised his acting career.

By the time he finished his Secondary education, Dan Imoudu joined Gojo Theatre group owned by Mrs. Soretire. His presence in NTA marked his journey into the movie industry.

Dan Imoudu has so far worked with key players in the Nigerian movie industry like Tunji Bamishigbin who he revealed was more than a family friend to him, Wale Adenuga and others.

His Personal Life

Dan Imoudu is married to his lovely wife, who he said had been very supportive in his life.

According the living legend, “When we got married, my life changed for better, it was a million percent turn around. Changes came into my life. She came with a special spiritual gift which changed my life a thousand times. Initially, things were tough because my other four brothers and my mum were also living in that same house with us. My wife was from a richer family; my mother said I and my wife should cook separately but my wife refused, she insisted we all eat from the same pot. It was quite tough for her staying with both her brothers and mother in-law but she weathered the storm. She was a major catalyst and she is still, we are grateful to God now”, he concluded.

Talking about Village Headmaster TV series era, Dan revealed was an interesting one. He however regretted that only a few of those clips could be layed hands on, but the memory still lingers.

We can add that the industry has evolved from analog to digital era. That is, an era which also produced a generation of Nigerian film and TV practitioners, who took matters into their own hands and started producing local content.

The 80s and 90s also witnessed an established industry hub for quality programmes.
