Helen Paul is a renowned Nigerian comedian, actress, singer, Events Host, Writer, Business Strategist, Philanthropist and a television personality.

She was born on the 29th of January, 1978 in Lagos State. She had her upbringing in Lagos State. She is best known as a stand-up comedian, popularly known as ‘Tatafo’. Her style of presentation and unique voice makes her standout as a child and loved by many.

Educational Background

Helen Paul had her primary and secondary education in Lagos. After obtaining her first and secondary school certificates respectively, she went to the University of Lagos to bag a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts in 2010 and a Master’s Degree in 2012 and recently a Ph.D. Degree also in Theatre Arts, from the University of Lagos.

She also has certifications from other Institutions Certificate in Media Enterprise from the School of Media and Communications, Pan-African University and a Basic Presentation Certificate from the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

Her Professional Career

Paul Helen spent most of her early years with her mother and grandmother, both in Lagos, who she dedicated her PH.d to.  She recounted as a kid, she used to entertain small groups of her mates, neighbors, and friends within the neighborhood.

In many of the interviews she later granted, she recalled  growing up under very strict  two disciplinarians – mother and grand mother.

Helen Paul Media Experience.

She has worked as freelance and full-time presenter at several media houses in Nigeria including the Lagos Television (LTV 8), Continental Broadcasting Service (CBS), and M-Net (as a co-presenter on Africa Magic Channel 114’s “JARA”). Her experience in media broadcasting knows no bounds.

She ventured into comedy radio program known as “Wetin Dey” on Radio Continental, 102.3FM, Lagos, a program popularly known as “Tatafo”.  It is a witty and brilliant kid presentation of  societal issues in a hilarious and satirical manner. She also a presenter of  programs on TV Continental.

As a comedian, her first professional performance happened as an undergraduate at the University of Lagos. She attended an event with a group of friends but the stand-up comic billed to perform failed to show up. Her friends encouraged her to perform. The organizers were thankful she filled in for the no show comic.

Helen began working in the entertainment field when she started working at Eko Reelmix Studios, Radio Lagos/Eko FM as a front desk manager whilst doubling as a back-up and voiceover artiste. During this period, she featured on several music projects with artistes and music groups including P-Square, Infinity, Olufunmi, and Yinka Davies.

She is known to have recorded radio jingles for a number of companies and brand names, including Peak Milk, Indomie Noodles  and Cowbell Milk.

Helen Paul is such a versatile young woman who has made it big in various fields of human endeavour.

In July 2012 she released her debut album Welcome Party, which comprises of Afro-Pop songs such as “Boju Boju”, “Vernacular”, “Gbedu”, “God Forbid”, an Afro R&B song titled “Children of the World”, and “Use Calculator”, an understanding song about the menace of the HIV-AIDs epidemic.

Helen has helped a number of people set up small scale businesses in Nigeria, who today owe her much appreciation.

Helen Paul is married to Femi Bamisile and the union is blessed with four children. She is a woman of integrity free from any scandal.

Helen Paul is also a successful business woman. She opened a bridal and fabric boutique in Lagos in 2012, called Massive Fabrics and Bridals. She has since proceeded to open three other outlets of the boutique in different parts of Lagos.

In 2014, she opened a film and theater academy, the Helen Paul Theater and Film Academy. It consists of a dance studio, a makeup studio, a recording studio, a rehearsal studio, a photo studio, a mainly digital library, an editing studio, and a hostel for students.
