Actor Akin Lewis: Biography And Net Worth

Akin Lewis whose real full name is Akintola Akin Lewis is a Nigerian actor, producer and director.

He was born in the 1951 in Lagos State, the date of his birth not known. Akin-Lewis, the only Son to his parents.

 

 

Educational Background

 Akin Lewis had his primary and secondary education in Lagos state. He later went to the University of Ife,  now Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)in Osun State where he bagged  a degree.  He had since remain very active and relevant in the movie industry and has always been a headline material since he appeared in ‘Why Worry’, a movie  very popular in the late 1970s through early 1980s.

 

 His  Acting Career

Akin Lewis began his acting career in 1973.  The same  year, he joined a drama group led by Professor Bode Sowande, a renowned Nigerian writer and dramatist.

 

He started acting from his Primary School days with his father giving him all the necessary support. He eventually emerged successful in his chosen career though he did not study drama.

The actor, who has been in the movie industry for over four decades now is known to acting Yoruba and English movies. He is known to acts the role of a wealthy man in most movies. Again, he is very matured in acting, creative and exceptionally talented.

 

Some of his movies include Return from the Dead and Love Is War, King of Boys, A Soldier’s Love, Heroes and Zeroes,  Silver Lining and the popular Madam Dearest in 2005, a Nigerian movie produced and directed by Tade Ogidan. It was this movie that shot him to limelight where he played the lead role.

 

He has also featured in several films, including Tinsel, one of Nigeria’s most popular Soap Opera on Satellite TV and the current AIT TV drama Series “Palace” which comes up every Sunday at 9pm. He acts alongside Jide Kosoko, and other big stars in the industry.

 

Akin Lewis is presently the Rector of Graig-Philips College of Technology, a film Institute located inside Shonibare Estate, Maryland, Lagos. The school is believed to be well equipped with experienced tutors.

On October 2010, Akin  won the The Audio Visual Awards (TAVA) for best actor of the year Awards.
