Educational Background
Bukola had her primary and secondary education in Ilorin where she obtained her first and secondary school certificates respectively.
She later went to the University of Ilorin, Kwara State where she studied Performing Arts at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
Her Acting Career
Bukola made her entry into acting dated back to her University days. But her major breakthrough in movies was achieved after her graduation. This was when she featured in hit movies like Poisonous Affairs and Arugba. The same movie, Arugba earned her an award at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2009.
Bukola revealed that her dream was to become an actress even before she gained admission into the University. The irony of it all was that her first choice course of study was Mass Communication. But as fate would have it, she was given admission to study Performing Arts.
She however revealed her journey into acting hasn’t always been that rosy. Sex harassments and intimidation in the industry made her to lose some vital roles in movies because of her refusal to sleep with certain producers in the industry.
Bukola added that there was a particular movie where she was almost through to the final arrangement but was abruptly terminated.
She is creative, skillful and highly talented Nollywood actress. She knows to interpret movie roles but she is selective of characters assigned her by movie producers because of her discipline and avoidance of scandal.
She has acted a number of Nollywood movies including the popular ‘Two sides of a coin’, ‘Igba Nba Jo’, Poisonous Affairs and Arugba.
She is a proud recipient of an award as best actress of the year at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2009.
Her Personal Life
Bukola Awoyemi is happily married and the union is blessed with twins. She disclosed that nursing a single baby is not easy, let alone taking care of two at the same time.
In her words, “Twins are a double bundle of joy, but they also come with double challenges. It means you have to feed two people, often, at the same time. You have to dress two; you have to lure two people to bed almost at the same time. At times, they may choose to play. At times, they may fight each other – you know, as other children do. They may laugh together; they may choose to cry at the same time. So, all the tasks and challenges come double-double, just as the joy comes.”
