Akorede Babatunde Okunola is his birth name, but widely known by stage names as Saheed Osupa or King Saheed Osupa. He is a Nigerian Fuji musician, film actor and Hip Fuji Creator.
Saheed was born on August 7, 1969 in the Mosafejo area of Ajegunle, Lagos State. He had his up-bringing in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. His father, Moshood Ajiwere Layeye was a Wéré music artist and also an elder cousin of Fuji musician Ayinde Barrister.
Saheed’s Educational Background
Saheed Osupa went to Amuwo Odofin High School in Lagos in 1987. He went further to have National Diploma programme in Business Administration at The Polytechnic, Ibadan in 1992.
He is also an alumnus of the American International College where he studied Networking Operations.
Saheed’s Career
Saheed Osupa began his music professionally as a teenager in 1983. His first album was titled Fuji Fa Disco, followed by Fuji Blues. He has since released over 40 studio albums including a 4-in-1 studio album titled Mr. Music.
In 2008, Saheed Osupa was named the “King of Fuji Music” by Ayinde Barrister.
Saheed Osupa is the Hip Fuji Creator. June 12 2018, he released his first hip Fuji Album titled: ‘Non Stop’. He went ahead to release Hip Hop single “Vanakula” produced by K-Solo and “African Beauty” and “Womi” in April 2015 and August 2015 respectively.
