Babatunde Omidina is a popular Nigerian actor and comedian widely known as Baba Suwe.
He was born on August 22, 1958 in Inabere Street in Lagos Island where he spent his early life. He hails from Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Educational Background
Babatunde had his primary education at Jamaitul Islamial Primary School in Lagos and Children Boarding School, Osogbo before he proceeded to Adekanbi Commercial High School in Mile 12, Lagos State.
He finally went to Ifeoluwa Grammar School in Osogbo, Osun State where he obtained the West African School Certificate.
His Acting Career
Babatunde began acting in 1971. He was shot to fame and recognition in Nollywood after he featured in a movie, ‘Omolasan’, a movie produced by Obalende.
He became more famous after starring in another hit movie, Iru Esin, produced by Olaiya Igwe in 1997.
He has featured and produced several Nigerian movies such as Baba Jaiye jaiye, a movie that featured Funke Akindele and Femi Adebayo, the son of the veteran actor Adebayo Salami.

Babatunde Omidina was creative, skillful and highly talented Nollywood actor, known for good interpretation of roles in movies. In 2011, Babatunde Omidina was alleged of cocaine trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), an allegation that was described as false and defamatory by the ruling of the Lagos High Court of law.
His solicitor was the late Bamidele Aturu, a Nigerian lawyer and human right activist. He has since been freed of the allegation.
His Personal Life
Babatunde Omidina has been happily married to his lovely wife, Omoladun Omidina and the marriage is blessed with two children named Okiki Omidina, Junior Ominida, Halimat Omidina.
Sadly, the veteran actor is now deceased. The cause of his death is not known, but rumour had it that Baba Suwe died of diabetes. Aged 63 years. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
