Eku Edewor has her real full name as Georgina Chloe Eku Edewor-Thorley. She is a famous British Nigerian actress, television presenter, and model known for her work as host of the entertainment television program, 53 Extra on Africa Magic.

Eku Edewor was born on December 18, 1986 in London to Mr. Hugh Thorley, a British father who then worked in the Food and Beverage supply and Logistics industries and Juliana Edewor from Delta State, Nigeria, an interior designer, restaurateur, and art collector. Both parents had long divorced leaving behind Eku and her twin sister named Kessiana.

Edewor had her up-bringing in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

 

Eku Edewkor’s Educational Background

Eku Edewor had her primary education at St. Saviour’s School and Grange School, Lagos. She then moved back to the United Kingdom, where she attended boarding school at the Benenden School for Girls.

Edewor thereafter attended Warwick University in Coventry, England. She pursued a degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies, graduating with honours in 2008.

She then also successfully completed a three-month course in Acting for film at the New York Film Academy in 2009.

Eku Edewor’s Career

Edewor made her first television appearance professionally in 2006 when she competed in the reality show, Britain’s Next Top Model under the name “Georgina Edewor-Thorley”.

Edewor appeared in theatre productions while studying at Warwick University and the New York Film Academy with her first job in the entertainment industry as a production assistant to producer Damian Jones.
Edewor worked at his company DJ Films from September 2008 through October 2009 and in the 2010 starred in a movie, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll as “Party Girl”.

In 2010, after the loss of her stepfather, Edewor returned to Nigeria with initial plan to work in her mother’s restaurant, the Chardonnay Restaurant and Bar.

As fate would have it, Edewor made a U-turn venturing into Nollywood where she had series of auditions for co-presenter on 53 Extra (formerly Studio 53 Extra), an entertainment show produced by M-NET and airing on the DStv’s Africa Magic channel.
It was a show studio named for 53 countries in the African Union which feature music, film, fashion, red carpet events and news about celebrities and captain of industries across African continent.

Since then, Edewor on 53 Extra, has made several other television appearances including the co-hosting of the Big Brother Africa All Stars live red carpet show in 2010.

Edewor also hosted the Pepsi Top Ten Countdown since 2012 and has appeared in commercials for both M-NET’s 25th Anniversary and Martini.

The beautiful, highly creative and talented Edewor has so far starred as Sade Coker in the television series ‘The Island’, in 2012, played the character of Nicole in the online series ‘How She Left My Brother’ and played principal character, ‘Sapphire’ in the 2013 romantic comedy movie, ‘Flower Girl’.

Edewor most recently starred as Victoria in the 2014 movie, ‘When Love Comes Around’, produced by Zynell Zuh and Your Excellency in 2019.
