Babajide Awobona is his real full name but widely and fondly called Jide Awobona. He is a fast rising Nollywood actor known for several hit soaps and movies.
Jide was born and raised in Lagos State where he trained in acting and presentation.
Jide Awobona had his primary and secondary education in Lagos State respectively. He later had training in acting and drama presentation before venturing into acting profession.
His Acting Career
Jide kick-started his journey into the movie industry (Nollywood) in 2003 when he found myself at Jovies Perfection Press, Surulere, Lagos. The bulk of training and skills he acquired at Jovies actually prepared him for the acting career.
Jovies Perfection Press was also running a campaign for the awareness of HIV/AIDS and Jide was part of the representatives and volunteers who went to schools to educate pupils on the deadly disease.
This was the beginning of his journey into acting which of course turned out to be his first major movie. It was premiered in almost all the schools in Lagos State.
The success recorded in the project gave him roles in other movies and tv series including TV soap in 2004 with Wale Adenuga Production, Super Story, Last Honour.
Jide has since starred in several Nollywood movies series, some of which are Wale Adenuga Production soaps, (The Secret), Family Ties by AK Media Production, Valley Between by Tunji Bamishigbin (Rockview Production), Champions of our Time, The Ransom, Basiratu Baseje, Teniola, Eku Ida, Igbimo Awa Okunrin, Eku Meji, Edun Ara, Amope Alasela among numerous others.
Jide Awobona is creative, skillful and amazingly talented Nollywood star, known for good delivery of roles in movies. He can fit into any character given to him in movies and producers and directors in the industry featured prominently because of his brilliant interpretation of roles.
Jide revealed that his experience so far in the industry has been fulfilling, adventurous, interesting and challenging because he enjoys doing what he loves doing. He features in both Yoruba movies, Soap Operas and Tinsel.
His Personal Life
Jide Awobona is not yet married. There was a rumour spreading like wide fire in the bush that he was dating Ayo Adesanya which he denied strongly, saying it was the work of rumour peddlers. According Jide, “Romance! How on earth can I be in any form of romance with my own sister? Ayo Adesanya is my sister” he concluded.
He explained they are both in the industry working together for the good of the profession playing a very crucial role in all the stages of the production from pre-production, production and post production.
