Abiodun Koya, also fondly called Abby is a Nigerian born Classical/Opera singer, songwriter, poet, actress, screenwriter and humanitarian based in the United States of America.
She was born on December 22, 1980 into a family of five children. She is the last child comprising two brothers and two sisters. Her father, Mr. Rufus Koya, played classical music which undoubtedly paved the way for her emergence in music. She grew up in Ijebu Ode in Ogun State in south western Nigeria.
Koya later moved to the United States where she had her educational pursuit.
Koya studied Business Management at the University of the District of Columbia, Washington, D.C. United States.
She went further to study music for her Master’s degree at Catholic University, also at Washington. D.C.
Her Music Career
Abiodun Koya made her entry into classical music at an early age of three, but her strong passion for music grew when she turned six, playing the violin and singing classical music at church.
Koya is one of the very few professionally trained opera singers in Nigeria and the entire Africa, widely referred to as the Presidents’ and Kings’ singer.
Abiodun Koya has performed at several international events and concerts including the White House Presidential inauguration and the Democratic National Convention.
Koya is beautiful, creative and exceptionally talented Nigerian singer who has made a big name for herself. She has sung for some of the world’s most influential leaders of today, widely adjudged as one of the world’s most sonorous voices.
Koya has released fantastic songs for several world leaders including presidents and royalty, ambassadors, and Members of Congress.
In 2009, the Nigerian superstar released a collection of her love poems, “The Mood of a Princess” which essentially centred on love which she described as the greatest force in life.

Abiodun Koya is a humanitarian. She has a Charity Organization, an inspiration she got from her father which is notably for mentorship and provision of scholarships for young girls in many African countries.
Abiodun Koya is a recipient of White House Award of Recognition and Performance at the Black History Month Ceremony.
