Faustina Charles Mfinanga is her real name, popularly known by her stage name as Nandy. She is a famous Tanzanian singer, songwriter and actress of Pare heritage.
Nandy was born on November 9, 1992 to the parents of Charles Mfinanga, a mechanic and Mother Mary Charles, a tailor. She grew up in the City of Moshi in Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania.
Nandy’s Educational Background
Nandy attended the famous Mawenzi Primary School and Lomwe High School, both in her country home where she became the head of School Choir.
She later schooled at College of Business Education (CBE), Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Nandy began performing at a very tender age of 5 when she was an active member of her Sunday school choir at KKKT Lutheran church in Moshi.
Nandy became professionally known in music when her friend introduced her to Ruge Mutahaba, CEO of Tanzania House of Talent (THT), where she met Emma the Boy, who produced her first mainstream single, ‘Nagusagusa’.
The song was indeed a big hit and received wide airplay in all the media platforms in her country within a week of its release.
In early 2016, Nandy participated in a singing competition Tecno Own The Stage, a contest that had large contestants from all over Africa. The grand finale was held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Nandy emerged the first runner-up which eventually shot her to fame and global recognition as she gained performance confidence and also acquired essential knowledge of the music industry from the musical tutors and mentors such as Chocolate City’s M.I Abaga, Yemi Alade and Bien of Sauti Sol respectively.
In 2017, Nandy released her hit single ‘One Day’, which spearheaded her career and gave her a couple of opportunities as she was one of the few artists who participated in Coke Studio Africa in 2017.
Later the same year, Nandy got nominated in the All Africa Music Awards as best female eastern Africa and won.
