King Promise has his real name as Gregory Bortey Promise Newman. He is a young, fast rising Ghanaian singer and songwriter, known for Afrobeats, Highlife, R&B and Hip Hop genres of music.

He was born on August 16, 1995 in Accra Ghana, where he grew up and had his elementary, secondary and University education respectively.

He had his elementary education St. Anthony Academy and Nungua Senior High School both in Accra, Ghana.

He later graduated with a degree in Information Technology and Economics at the Central University of Ghana in 2016.

King Promise is currently drawing inspiration from his environment, penning songs on everything from love to hustling, partying to family, essentially enjoying an incredibly wide range of music, both in his own language and creative process.

He is particularly feeling Ghanaian drill, the South African Amapiano scene and collaborating with UK artists like NSG and Headie One for his music.

According to the young music star, “I’m here to supply the vibes, I’m the vibe supplier,” King Promise summarizes playfully.

He went further to state that happiness, dancing, laughter and unity are the hallmark of his music. In short, “making the galdem want to whine and the mandem want to buy bottles.”

The young, versatile, exceptionally creative and talented Ghanaian singer revealed that Afrobeats will in the years to come dominate the genre of music in the world and believes in himself and the younger generation to actualize this dream.

King Promise cites the likes of Drake’s first number one singe ‘One Dance with Wizkid to the rapid rise of Afroswing in Europe or the international stardom of the likes of Wiz, Burna Boy and Davido on their own as evidence of his theory – a scene already making waves across continents.

He reaffirms his happiness to contribute his quota as much as his sound is local and inspiring.
