Mimi Mars, known by her stage name, has her real name as Marianne Namshali Mdee. She is a famous Tanzanian singer, songwriter, actress, MC, YouTuber and media personality reputed for her musical styles of Bongo Flava, R&B and Pop.

She was born on June 21, 1992 in Paris, France. Mimi grew up in Arusha, Tanzania. She is the daughter of a former Tanzanian Ambassador in France, Sammy Mdee, and Sophia Mdee. She is the younger sister of Tanzanian pop artist, Vanessa Mdee and KTN anchor and Gospel singer, Nancy Hebron.

Mimi Mars Educational Background

Mimi Mars attended Arusha Modern School and St. Catherine’s Mountain View in Nairobi, Kenya.

She later bagged a Law Degree from Dar Es Salaam’s Kampala University and a degree in Tourism Management from Malaysia’s Nilai University.

Mimi Mars Career

Mimi Mars began her music career professionally in 2017, with the release of her first single ‘’Shuga’’. The song was a success and climbed to the top of the charts in East Africa.

This was to be expected as Mars is coming from a musical family and performed at different family gatherings.

In 2018, Mars released her first ever extended playlist, ‘The Road’, a song that had six tracks. The debut album contains duets with Kagwe Mungai (Kenya) and Nikki Wa Pili (Tanzania).

Mimi Mars was part of Coke Studio Africa 2019 as an upcoming artist and performed alongside King Saha (Uganda) and Yared Negu (Ethiopia).
