Emeka Akumefule is his real name, but widely and professionally known as Blaqbonez. He is a famous Nigerian rapper, singer, rap battler and songwriter.

Blaqbonez was born January 29, 1996 in Lagos where he had his primary and secondary education respectively. He hails from Imo State in south east Nigeria.

He later bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering at the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

 

Blaqbonez Music Career

Blaqbonez journey into the music world began at a very young age of 13 when he used to display the Yoruba and Urhobo culture in Nigeria.

He built on his talent after listening to music on radio and television and over time, he was challenged to make his own lyrics out of the songs as a text battler on Facebook before he went into songs recording.

Blaqbonez became professionally known after winning Terry Tha Rapman’s Zombie competition which got him a collaboration on Terry’s album “World Domination”.

The album was a huge success for Blaqbonez as it featured top Nigerian music stars like Olamide, Vector (rapper), Mode 9, Spellz in 2012.

Blaqbonez is gifted, very creative and talented young music artiste, known for his unique style of dressing and controversy; like once proclaiming Best Rapper In Africa (BRIA).

He has also featured Terry The Rapman on one in all his projects and  emerged 1st runner-up in Vector (rapper)’s King Kong Competition.

Blaqbonez also won The Rhythm FM Freestyle Fury and became Rhythmfm’s artiste of the month.

The talented Nigerian rapper released 9 EPs with the latest released in 2019.

His hit song, “Jesus is Black” was a promotional single where he urged American rapper, Kanye West to postpone “JESUS Is King” since it was expected to be released on the same day as Mr Bombastic.

In 2020, Blaqbonez released another hit track, titled “Haba”. This was followed by another popular hit album, “Sex Over Love”. The song was a huge success and increased his fan base tremendously.

The album featured top music stars like of Buju Bnxn, Tiwa Savage, Nasty C, Laycon, Superboy Cheque, Joeboy, Bad Boy Timz and 1Da Banton.

The Nigerian rapper made the list of 2019 “Top 10 Artists to Watch” by The Guardian. Blaqbonez was also named the West African Rapper of The Year at the inaugural Creative-African Hip Hop Awards.

Blaqbonez recently became the Hennessy vs Class Captain, a part of the Soundcity blast Cypher.

He thereafter launched his mixtape “CTAT; Cassette, Tapes, and Tvs,” respectively, grossing over 60,000 engagements in streams and downloads. That was his third mixtape, following Hip-hop in Blaq and the “Unfinished EP“.

Blaqbonez is not yet married, but in a relationship with one Gbemmy Daniels. He revealed that they have been dating for quite some time and expressed his love for his longtime girlfriend on his social media accounts. It reads:

“Love is beautiful when you find the right one.

“It feels wrong to continue to hide you from the world cos last year when I lost my brother no one else was there for me but you”.
