Seyi Shay: Biography And Net Worth

Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua Odedere is her real name but widely and popularly known as Seyi Shay. She is a Nigerian artiste, song writer, stage performer, model and a Philanthropist.
Seyi was born on 21st December 1985 in Totteham – London, United Kingdom to Nigerian parents. Her father hails from Ile-Ife in Osun state of Nigeria while the mother is from the northern part of the country. She grew up in London with her siblings.
Educational Background
Seyi Shay had her primary education in London and thereafter came back to Nigeria to have her secondary education in Command High School in Maryland, Lagos. After her Senior School Certificate (SSCE), she again relocated to London where she studied music in a local college and later had a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management in the University of East London.
Her Musical Career
Seyi Shay kick started her music career at a young age of 14 when she joined her secondary school choir at the Command High School in Maryland, Lagos. So, coming from the family of music background as her mother was an active chorister, her sister, a song writer and composer and of course the brother a radio and club disc jockey (DJ), one is not surprised seeing Seyi making it to the top of her music career.
She performed for the London Community Gospel Choir during their World tour which featured about 13 cities in Japan. Her brilliant performances at the show received thunderous applaud in Japan.
Seyi later in years revealed that her mother was initially opposed to her going into music. She actually wanted her to study medicine or law. But as fate would have it, the mother saw the inherent talents in Seyi and encouraged her to focus on her music career and learn to put God first in her all endeavours.
Seyi remained focused and before long, she became popular in music with her ever recorded deal “No Apology” in the year 2005, a record label affiliated with George Martin. The song produced songs for soundtrack – “Crime Life, gang Wars for Konami’s video game.
Another recording deal with Sony Columbia record and Music World Entertainment was signed in London and managed by Mathew Knowles.
In 2011, Seyi was introduced to Sound Sultan in one of her visits to London. Her brilliant performances at the time convinced Sultan that Seyi was good and advised her to come back to Nigeria for her full musical career.
Seyi Shay has since been waxing stronger in music career. She signed millions of Naira deal as an endorsement with telecommunications giant Etisalat now 9-Mobiles in November 2013. Again, 2015 saw Seyi signed a record contract deal with Island Records label and released her first debut studio album “Seyi or Shay”. The album has a hit single like “Irawo, Ragga Ragga and Chairman”.

She later quoted her lovely mother, Mathew Knowles, Sound Sultan, 2 Face Idibia, Omawumi and Wizkid as her musical influences in life.
