Tonto Dikeh is a Nigerian actress, singer, and philanthropist. She is of Ikwerre descent in Rivers State, a subgroup of the Igbo tribe in the South South Nigeria. She was born on the 9th of June 1985.
Dikeh was third child of family of seven and at a very tender age of 3, she lost her mother and was raised by her step-mother, who has two children. Dikeh other names are Poko, Tontolet and Mama King.
Educational Background
Tonto Dikeh had his primary and secondary education in Port Harcourt. After primary and Secondary Certificates respectively, she went further to study petrochemical engineering at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology also in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Her degree in engineering aside, this talented young woman has proved to her fans that acting is in the blood. Her success in music and acting is hinged on her hard work and strong determination to make it to the top.
Her Acting Career
Dikeh Tonto was featured in a movie titled Dirty Secret, which was greeted with lots of controversy among Nigerians due to its inclusion of adult scenes. While some people criticized her role for being untraditional and un-African, others saw Dikeh as a professional actress who actually knows what she is doing.
Music career
Following a successful acting career, Dikeh decided to venture into music industry. Her genre of music was R&B and the instruments are vocal. Prior to that, she was featured in a music video for Amaco Investments, alongside Patience Ozokwor. She made her first music debut by releasing the singles “Hi” and “Itz Ova”, the latter of which features Snypa.
June 2014, Nigerian singer D’banj signed her to his record label, DB Records. However, the contract deal was short live as Dikeh quitted from DB records in March 2015. Reason for the termination of the contract was not known, perhaps due to financial disagreement.
Personal life
Dikeh is married to Oladunni Churchill, and the traditional marriage was held in August 2015. The union is blessed with a son named Andre Omodayo Churchill in February 2016, whom she nicknamed Baby X.
