Ada Ameh is multi-talented Nollywood actress, producer, Comedian, producer, television personality, master of ceremonies (MC) and a Philanthropist.
She is creative, gifted, skillful and highly talented in acting and interpretation of movie roles assigned her by movie producers and directors in Nigeria.
Ada Ameh was born into a family of 11 children, five boys and six girls to Mr. and Mrs. Augustine Obande Ameh. She was brought up in Naval Barracks on Malu (Mobil) road in Ajegunle area of Lagos State of Nigeria. She is from Idoma, Benue State.
Educational And Career Background
Ada had her primary and secondary education both in Lagos State. After her primary and secondary certificates respectively, she joined the Nigerian Movie Industry (Nollywood) in 1995 and rose to popularity in 1996 after playing the role of Anita who acted as a Green horn in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Domitila”, a move produced and directed by a renowned movie producer, Zeb Ejiro. This movie was the ladder platform with which Ada climbed to the mountain top in the movie industry.
She improved on her profession and acted in another Nollywood blockbuster Comic movie “Aki na Ukwa” in company of movie celebrities like Chinedu Ikedieze, Osita Iheme and Amaechi Muonagor. In this movie, Ada plays the role of Gladys.
In 2016, she featured in popular television series “The Johnson” which is presently and widely aired on DSTV.
Ada cited Zeb Ejiro as her role model, who actually discovered her hidden talents in acting which was a clear departure from her earlier choice of medicine or music profession.
She later revealed that when her first movie “Domitila” was to be shot, the veteran Zeb Ejiro simply came to handpick her for the role of Anita in that movie. She narrated that even though it was not GSM era, they located her and with the help and teaching of Pat Okiri and Basorge, she became sound in interpretation of roles in movies.
The prolific and successful actress has acted in more than 100 movies including True Love My Foot, Blood Money, Phone Swap, Domitila, Aki na Ukwa, 30 Days in Atlanta, Ghana Must Go and several other hit movies too numerous to mention here.
Ada is a bi-linguist and speaks Idoma, Ibibio, Yoruba languages fluently and a little of Igbo language. She is known to play the role of a mother, a role she acts beautifully in most movies. She features also as Comedian in most Nollywood movies alongside veteran actors and actresses like Osita Iheme and others.
Ada Ameh has made tremendous contributions both to her community and Nollywood in Nigeria. No wonder, she was given the prestigious Chieftaincy title in her Idoma community in Benue State Nigeria as recognition for community development in the year 2017.
