Henry James Asiegbu is his real name but fondly known and addressed as Ejike Asiegbu. He is a Nigerian actor, director, producer, television personality, politician and a rare philanthropist.
He was born on the 8th of November, 1959 in Umuahia, Abia State, to Chief Sir J.U. Asiegbu, an engineer with the then National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) and the mother Mrs. Comfort Egobeke Asiegbu as a petty business woman.
Ejike was born into a family of six children and he hails from Abia State, in south eastern Nigeria.
Educational Background
Ejike Asiegbu had his primary education at Santa Maria, now Constitution Crescent Primary School in Abia Abia State. He attended Abdul Azeez Attah Memorial College, Okene in Kogi State and eventually completed his secondary education at Christ the King College in Onitsha, Anambra State where he obtained his secondary school certificate in 1980.
He later went to the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State where he bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts in 1993.
His Acting Career
Ejike joined the Nigerian Movie industry in 1996 and acted his first movie “Silent Night”. It was this movie that shot him to popularity. He acts mostly in action and romantic movies alongside Jim Iyke, Hanks Anuku, Pete Edochie, Clem Ohameze, Kanayo O Kanayo, Kenneth Okonkwo and other top Nollywood stars.
He has starred in over 200 movies since joining Nollywood, some of which are The wolves, A Time to die, Abuja Boys, Dirty Game, The Barons, Rituals, Too Much Money, Power Must Change Hands, Executive Connection, Last Kiss, Silent Whispers, The wrong Money among others.
Ejike is such an exceptionally gifted actor. He interprets movie roles very well and can as well accept any character assigned him to give acting real life situation.
Personal Life
Ejike is happily married to his beautiful wife, Ogechi, a graduate from Federal Polytechnics, Oko in Anambra State and the union is blessed with children.
