Onyebuchi Ojieh, widely known and addressed by his stage name as Buchi. He is a Nigerian comedian, composer, writer, and actor.
He was born on the 4th of April 1979 in Kwale Ndokwa West, Delta State in south southern Nigeria. He grew up in Warri, Delta state and had his education in Edo state.
Educational Background
He had his elementary education at D.S.C Nursery and Primary School and Ovwian Secondary School in Ovwian, Warri, Delta State. After obtaining his first and secondary school certificates respectively, he went to the now known Ambrose Alli University, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law.
His Comedy Career
Buchi began his comedy career in 2008, after he was introduced to comedian Tee-A, who then invited Buchi to his show “Tee-A Live N Naked Show” in Lagos. This rare opportunity paved the way for Buchi to meet with other comedians like Ali Baba and Opa Williams, who gave him a spot on his Nite of A 1000 Laughs show to prove himself.
Buchi’s tremendous performance at the show gave him the ticket to feature in subsequent comedy shows. He has performed alongside other comedians, such as I Go Dye, I Go Save, Basketmouth, and Bovi, among others.

His Personal Life
The Delta born Onyebuchi Ojieh, got married to his wife Rukkiyah in 2017 and welcomed their first baby girl in Texas.
Rukkiyah shared the exciting news via her Instagram page, where she happily shared that he witnessed two births, that is the birth of her daughter and the birth of herself becoming a mother.
In an interview, he narrated how he got into Stand-up comedy in 1996. Before then, he said he used to do comedy back in his Secondary School days. It was seen then as mock news.
He went further to state that education is always an edge in whatever you do; it has given me an edge and recognition real fast.
Though comedy was not really in his earlier plan in life, he narrated that as fate would have it, being an Astronaut was not realizable as space is so far.
Buchi said he was not born with silver spoon but had a bumble beginning. To him, “Comedy has put me through school! Life in comedy, I will say it’s a great life”.

Buchi stated that he learnt from everyone ahead of him especially the likes of Mike Epps, Chris Rock, Basket Mouth, Alli Baba.
It is still a growing industry. But Buchi believes nothing is permanent and hopes that should there is any uncertainty, God will take care of him and family.
Buchi concluded by saying that he cannot walk through a normal road without being recognized, a simple man with simple interest.
