She was born and brought up in Port Harcourt, Rivers State into a Christian family.
Uranta had her primary and secondary education at the Sacred Heart Nursery and Primary school and Holy Rosary Girls Secondary school, both in Port Harcourt, Rivers State where she obtained her first and secondary school certificates respectively.
She later went to Rivers State University of Science and Technology in Port Harcourt to have a degree in Secretarial studies, a course different from her earlier dream pursuit, acting. As fate would have it, Uranta saw herself making it to the top in the entertainment industry.
Uranta later went for her post graduate Diploma in Theatre Arts, a branch performing Arts from London school of Academy in the United Kingdom.
Her Acting Career
Uranta began acting dated back to her secondary school days as a dancer and stage drama performer. He however started acting professionally in the year 2000, when she used to accept minor roles in movies.
Uranta starred in movie “Girls Hostel” alongside Nollywood star, Uche Jombo. After her outstanding performance, she was picked for the role. She has since acted a number of hit movies.
While in the University, Uranta won the Finest Girl Award at Miss University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt beauty pageants. She also emerged the first runner-up at Miss Niger Delta contest.
Uranta is an epitome of beauty, creative, skillful and highly talented Nollywood actress to watch. She is gifted in playing roles brilliantly in movies and can as well accept any character assigned her by movie directors and producers in Nigeria.

Mary Uranta is a successful entrepreneur. She is a proud owner of film production company known as “50th Academy”. Is a company she set up to aid the growth of the Nigerian Movie Industry in 2012.
Uranta also set up a Charity Organisation, known as “Mary Uranta Foundation”, a platform created to cater for the less priviledged and the vulnerables in Opobo land in Port Harcourt, Rivers State of Nigeria.
The same year 2012, Uranta emerged the face of Redkarpet photography based in Rivers State.
