Uduak Isong: Biography And Net Worth

Uduak Isong Oguamanam is her real full name. She is a renowned Nollywood scriptwriter, producer and entrepreneur based in Lagos, Nigeria. She is best known for the comedy films Okon Lagos in 2011.

Uduak was born and raised in Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria.

 

Uduak’s Educational Background

Uduak Isong is a graduate of Communication Arts and Russian Languages from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
She also has a Master’s degree in New Media and Society from the University of Leicester and a Diploma in French from Alliance Francaiein, Lagos State.

Uduak’s Acting Career

Uduak Isong’s first job was in the aviation industry as a cabin crew member for two years. She also worked in the Capital Market and telecoms industry before settling down into full time acting profession. She later began writing prose and poetry.

Uduak ventured into acting professionally when in her words, “it looked like it was the more lucrative thing to do”. She acted her first movie “Falling”, a movie produced under Closer Pictures through Royal Arts Academy, Lagos, owned by her sister, Emem Isong Misodi.
Falling tells the story of love and betrayal. The budget for Falling was placed at 10 million Naira.

In 2010, Uduak Isong directed her first movie, “To Live Again”. It was adapted from her short story which was published by Farafina Magazine based in Lagos.

Uduak is beautiful, creative and highly talented Nollywood actress, known for good interpretation of roles in movies. She can as well fit into any character assigned her in most movies and she does it very well.

In 2012, Uduak Isong was chosen by the British Council, Nigeria to represent the UK-Nigeria Creative World Partnership Programme, in the United Kingdom.

She was also previledged to attend Workshops at Raindance in the UK.

In 2006, Uduak Isong was awarded the Commonwealth Short Story Prize.

Advocacy And Social Work

Uduak Isong has since embarked on several projects to tackle societal issues. Her first project, To Live Again, deals with the stigmatization faced by people living with HIV.

In 2012, the Nollywood superstar produced and co-scripted Kokomma which tackled female sexual abuse. Her movie, Fine Girl (2016), is the story of a young girl who turns to prostitution to save her dying father.

Uduak Isong is happily married to Chidi Oguamanam, a medical doctor. Her sister is Nollywood director and producer Emem Isong Misodi.
