Kanvee Adams is a Liberian most sensational gospel award winning singer.
She was born and known as Kanvee Kamara to a Muslim Mandingo family. She revealed that she became born again in the course of seeking refuge in Ivory Coast during the unforgettable brutal civil war that ravaged the once peace country Liberia.
Her Musical Career
Kanvee Adams who made her journey into music in the year 2000, is a renowned inspirational gospel artiste. She released her first debut “Be Like Joe” and has since become a star. She has over the years proven herself vocally as well as in performance with over 16 albums to her name.
Kanvee who is a famous talented and gifted artiste known for her international best selling hit song “You Will Carry My Load”. She is equally reputed to be the first African artiste in many years to perform in the HEB community.
As would expected, the Church was full of hundreds of Africans and Americans living in the metroplex to witness launch of Kanvee’s new album, “Weep no more”.
To her, it was a dream come through, seeing the number of Africans and Americans, white and black as well as people of other faiths in attendance to witness that great occasion. Many could not hold back their tears with that brilliant performance.
In the course of her performance, Kanvee narrated her ordeals in life to the surprise and admiration of the audience.
In her own words, “I endured persecution because of my new-found faith and became the black sheep in my family. I slept on rice bags for many years and while others were known for good things in Cote D’ivoire, I was called “Mammy Gateaux” (Cake seller).
It was not only a story of challenges she went through in life, but to serve as a source of inspiration to many out there not to give up amidst a stormy weather and to take whatever tribulations they are may have been going through now to God who is the Author and finisher of our faith.
Kanvee’s made a successful tour at the invitation of Liberian-American Friendship Organization, LIAFO, an institution cementing US-Liberian relations and historical friendship. She visited about 6 states prior to her Texas trip.
Kanvee Adams was the official launch of Daar Music Global, which also witnessed the formal unveiling of Liberia’s Kanvee Adams as the first artiste on the label.
Present at the occasion were Daar Communications Plc, High Chief Raymond Dopkesi and other top managers of AIT and Raypower.
The occasion was witnessed veteran broadcaster of the company such as sportscaster Mitchel Obi, ID Ogungbe and Kenny Ogunbge of Kennis Music also witnessed the ceremony that will open a new page in the life of the organization.
Kenny Ogungbe, who anchored the programmed , recalled the role Daar Communication played in the early years of the Nigerian entertainment industry, specifically the contributions of DAAR to the promotion of local music and artistes through it’s media platform
In his remarks, the Group Managing Director Daar Communications Plc, Tony Akiotu observed that the song writing skills in Nigeria has degenerated to a questionable dimension, adding, “We as a people must take the bull by the horn and address the slide not because of today, but because of tomorrow.
The Daar Music Global is our own pact with history in addressing today for the betterment of tomorrow. We have indeed resolved, just like we did in 1994 through the years now, to once again stand up and be counted as one of the most patriotically concerned media outfit that is poised in reversing and addressing some ugly developments in our society for a greater tomorrow.”
Other Speakers include Managing Director of AIT Dr. Mrs Tosin Dokpesi who narrated the journey so far.
“Having successfully institutionalized the Nigerian music industry as an international brand with the experimentation with local talents, having been successful with The Remedies, Tuface, Benita Okogie, other artistes and several other musical concerts, we have now decided to move a notch higher into the real business of music through the establishment of Daar Music Global Limited.”
Dokpesi said the evergreen songs of Fela, king Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Sonny Okosun, Christy Essien-Igbokwe, Lagbaja and others pricked our conscience as a people and as a nation, unlike what is obtainable these days.
Kanvee Adams remained calm and patiently expressed her joy over the new deal. “I’m still trying to process everything that is happening here today; I’m trying to digest it,” she said.
It was at this point that her path crossed with Chief Raymond Dokpesi, who resolved to make her the first signing on Daar Music Global.
She expressed gratitude to High Chief Raymond Dokpesi; and believes that this all came together in time for me; my song Thank God For Mama did the magic,” she noted.
Kanvee promised to use her music ministry to win souls for the Lord’s Kingdom, bless and motivate people to remain faithful to God Almighty.
She also sees her new deal as an opportunity for other talented artistes from across Africa, to be heard and climb to greatness in the music industry.
