Ycee, is widely known by his stage name. His full name is Olumilade Martin Alejo. He is a fast growing Nigerian singer, rapper, song writer, recording artiste and stage performer.
He was born on the 29th of January 1993 in Festac Town, Lagos State.
Educational Background
Ycee had his elementary education at Dr. Soyemi Memorial Nursery and Primary School in Festac Town, Lagos. He later went to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School Ojo, Lagos State for his senior certificate.
After obtaining the usual first and secondary school certificates respectively, he went to the University of Lagos where he studied Marine Biology.
His Acting Career
Ycee kick-started his musical career journey in 2012 as an underground rapper and eventually rose to fame and signing a music contract with Tinny Entertainment.
Owing to the much musical demands, he found it difficult combining both music and his educational pursuits. He had to forgo music for Marine Biology which he studied at the University of Lagos.
Ycee returned to the music scene after graduation. He released his hit single “Condo”. The success he recorded in this song earned him best collaboration of the year and best music video of the year at the 2015 Nigerian Entertainment Awards.
He is skillful, creative and highly talented in music and most of his songs are in English, Pidgin and Yoruba languages.
In 2015, Ycee released another hit single “Jagaban”. The popularity and huge commercial breakthrough of this song shot him to music fame. The song was widely aired in most radio and television stations across Nigeria and beyond. The song also received the nod of the popular rapper, Olamide who asked to be featured on the remix of the song.
Ycee, who presently signed to Tinny Entertainment has released yet another hit singles “Condo”. The song also received the feature of vocals from sensational Patoranking and two nominations at the 2015 Nigerian Entertainment Awards.
This hard working and highly resourceful young Nigerian artiste again signed a record deal contract with Sonny Music in October 2016. By December the same year 2016, he was nominated for next Rated at the Headies Awards.
In 2017, he released his first debut studio Album “The First Wave”, featuring hits singles like Jagaban, Say Bye Bye, Smile on Me, Link Up among others.
January 12, 2018 was another landmark in his musical journey. as Ycee staged a Juice Concert at the popular 02 Academy, 16, Parkfield Street, London, United Kingdom.
