Keppy Ekpeyong is a renowned Nollywood actor, producer and director.
He was born in a Military Hospital, Yaba Lagos on the 21st of March, the year not known, to the family of Dr. Col Mrs. E.E. Bassey-Iyang. He is the third child in a family of six children. He hails from Ikot Antuen, Oku Iboku, in the Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State in south southern Nigeria.
Educational Background
Keppy had primary education at the Corona School, Victoria Island and Government College, Ojo, both in Lagos State.
He later went to Federal School of Arts and Science in Victoria Island, Lagos and the University of Calabar, Cross River State where he bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics.
He went further to obtain a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy (M.I.L.D) from the University of Lagos.
His Acting Career
Keppy Ekpeyong made his entry into acting profession during his one year mandatory service (NYSC) when he served with the programme department of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Headquarters as an associate producer between 1987 and 1988. Then, he had the rare opportunity to be trained as a dramatist, script writer, Voice Over, Producer and a presenter.
He featured in Nigeria Soap Opera Ripples where he played the lead role.
He is calm, creative, skillful and exceptionally talented actor who knows how to interpret movie roles. He can as well accept any character in movies and he performs brilliantly.
He has acted a number of movies and television series some of which include Unforgiven Sin, Turn Table Schemers: Bad Babes, Little Angel, Princess Butem, Black Mambe, Too Much Money, Anini, Total Control, Lady of Faith, Dark Secret, Changing Faces, St. Mary, 93 Days, Hire A Man, Smoke and Mirrors, Life Bullet, The Accursed and television series Dere.
In 2018, Keppy and female comedian Helen Paul successfully co-hosted the 10th edition of Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON).
Keppy is one of the pioneers and pillars of Nollywood. He was given recognition by the Guild of Actors of Nigeria for his great contributions to the growth and development of the Nollywood.
