Felicity Ama Agyemang known as Nana Ama McBrown is a popular Ghanaian actress, TV presenter and a music writer.

She was born August 15, 1973 in Kumasi, Ghana. She rose to fame after playing a brilliant role in television series Tentacles. Later, she featured in another hit movie, Asoreba, a movie she played her role in Twi-language. The movie was a huge success and shot her to fame and recognition in Ghallywood.

At her early age, her mother, Cecilia Agyenim Boateng divorced her father Kwabena Nkrumah. After their separation, her mother was unable to take care of Nana Ama and her six other siblings and were subsequently adopted by Kofi McBrown and her aunt, Madam Betty Obiri Yeboah. As a result,

Nana Ama considers her childhood as very challenging. She and her six siblings grew up in Kwadaso, Kumasi with her aunt, and her adopted father, hence Ama sees her aunt “real mother”. She was always full of gratitude to her aunt for having provided her with a stable and caring home.

Nana Ama had her primary education at St. Peter’s International Residential School, later at Minnesota International and finally at Central International.
Ama continued to Kwadaso L.A. J.S.S and eventually dropped out of school not able to sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examinations.

McBrown made her entry into the Ghana movie industry (Ghallywood) after answering an audition call on the radio by Miracle Films and was picked to do costuming instead. Along the line, she proved herself fit to do the job well and was given a lead role by the director, Samuel Nyamekye.

In 2001, Ana Ama acted her first movie, “That Day”, a movie that brought her to limelight in the Ghana movie industry and opened several interesting and exciting roles. It also gave her the opportunity to feature on the TV series Tentacles.

In 2007, the movie Asoreba, co-starring Agya Koo and Mercy Aseidu, turned Nana Ama into a household name and endeared her to millions of Ghanaian fans. Since then, Ama turned out to be the actress to watch in Ghana entertainment industry.

In 2004, Nana Ama McBrown dated briefly, Okyeame Kwame, a Ghanaian musician before she married her longtime boyfriend Maxwell Mawu Mensah in 2016. The marriage is blessed with a lovely daughter delivered in Canada on February 2019.
