Mercy Chinwo has her birth name as Mercy Nnenda Chinwo. She is a renowned Nigerian gospel singer, song writer, composer and an actress.

Mercy was born on the 5th of September 1990 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. She is the first daughter in a family of four children.

 

Mercy Chinwo’s Career

Mercy Chinwo music journey began at a very tender age as a member of the children’s Choir in her Church. The death of her father at her early age did not kill that strong passion for music in her as she was determined to make it in the field of music. Consequently, Mercy eventually launched her musical career.

Mercy Chinwo emerged the winner of the Nigerian Idol Season 2 in 2012 and currently signed to Eezee Conceptz Records Label since 2017.

Chinwo started her musical career professionally by lending her vocals to musical projects by great gospel music artistes like Chris Morgan, Preye, Sammie Okposo, Joe Praize, Buchi and many others.

Mercy Chinwo released her first single, “Testimony”, in 2015, and “Igwe” a year later.

In 2017, Mercy Chinwo signed to Gospel Music Label EeZee Conceptz. She presently has a number of albums and singles to her credits.

• Awarded the Best Gospel Artiste at the Climax Awards in 2018.
• Winner in three categories namely as African Gospel New Artiste of the Year, African Gospel Female Artiste of the Year and African Gospel Song of the Year for her song (Excess Love) at the 2019 maiden edition of the Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST).
The categories she won contained the likes of Sinach, Prospa Ochimana and Tim Godfrey.
