Actress Ego Boyo: Biography And Net Worth

Nwakaego Nnamani is her real birth name but fondly called Ego Boyo. She is a popular Nigerian actress and movie producer known for her role as Anne Haastrup in the late 80s soap, Checkmate.

She was born on September 6, 1968. Ego hails from Enugu State in south eastern Nigeria where she had her primary and secondary education respectively.


Ego Boyo’s Acting Career

Ego Boyo began her career professionally in the early 1990 when she featured in a movie, ‘Violated’ in 1996.
Ego rose to limelight in a popular tv series, ‘Checkmate’, where she played the character of Anne Haastrup which ran from 1991 to 1994, created by Amaka Isaac-Ene and sponsored by Lever Brothers Nigeria. She has since starred in several Nollywood movies.

Ego Boyo also started her own production company, Temple Productions in 2017, a short film titled “A Hotel called Memory”. It was directed by Akin Omotoso and stars Nse Ikpe Etim. The movie was very successful and won the audience award for best experimental film at the BlackStar Film Festival in Philadelphia, USA.

In 2017, Ego emerged the 60th president of International Women Society (IWS), an independent, non-political, non-governmental and non-profit organization. It was founded in 1957 by a group of women in Lagos that has been involved in changing the lives of women and children for the past 60 years.

Her Personal Life

Ego has been happily married to Omamofe Boyo, the Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer of Oando Plc and the union is blessed with three children.
