Yemi Alade, as she is popularly called by her stage name is a Nigerian Afro-pop singer, vocalist, song writer, stage performer, model and a Philanthropist.

 

Yemi Alade was born on the 13^th March 1989 in Abia State Nigeria, but was bred up in Lagos. She is the 5^th of the seven children by her Parents Mr. James Alade who is of Yoruba decent and her mother’s name Helen Uzoman from Igbo origin.

 

Yemi had her primary education at St. Saviour British Primary School and Victory Grammar School both in Lagos State. She later went to the University of Lagos where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Geography.

 

She was brought to music limelight in 2009 during the Peak Talent Hunt show competition and she became popular after her first release of her hit single “Johnny” produced by Sele Bobo with over 15 million views on YouTube and subsequently rose to over 75 million by African entertainer.

 

2012 was a landmark in her life as Yemi Alade signed a music record label (Effective Music Group) and her single Ghen Ghen love also by Sele Bobo.

 

Yemi has featured on the covers of trending magazines and has performed in different shows in Nigeria and around the world with celebrities like Iyanya, Flavour, Wizkid, Banky W, Davido, Olamide and many others.

Today, we cannot talk about a successful artist without mentioning Yemi who people believe have continued to make remarkable progress in her music career.

 

In 2014, she teamed up with M.K Waje, Timi Dakolo and Burna Boy on UNESCO Bank capital in Port Harcourt, a  World Bank capital project designed to encourage younger generation to read hard and stay away from crime.
