Dr. Sid known by his stage name, has his full name as Sidney Onoriode Esiri. He is a popular Nigerian singer, recording artiste, song composer, stage performer, Dentist and an actor.
Sid was born on the 1st of May, 1980 in Ikeja, Lagos state. He is an Urhobo man by tribe in Delta State, in south southern Nigeria. Sid was born into an entertainment family with his father a veteran Nollywood actor, late Justus Esiri and his mother a fashion designer. He is the second child in a family of four children.
His Educational Background
Dr. Sid had his primary education and thereafter attended Air Force Secondary school Ikeja, both in Lagos state where he obtained his first and secondary school certificates respectively.
He later went to the University of Ibadan to have a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery.
Dr Sid’s Career
Dr. Sid began his music career dated back to his school days entertaining and participating in various school plays, dance competitions and concerts winning several awards and prizes.
Upon graduation, Sid worked briefly in various hospitals as a dentist before settling down as a full time musician. He has since remained very active and relevant in the music industry winning several awards.
Sid signed a record deal contract with MO’ Hit Records, owned by Don Jazzy and records the MO; hit Allstars collective album “Curriculum Vitae”, released in 2017.
He went further to release his first studio album “The Big Picture” in 2004, second album “Curriculum Vitae” in 2007, third album “Turning Point” in 2010, fourth album “Solar Piexus” in 2012 and fifth album in 2013 respectively.
Dr. Sid is also a renowned Nollywood actor with several movies to his credit. He featured in Moses Inwang movie “The Last Digit”, a movie he played the role of corps member to a friend and a Nollywood actor Nonso Diobi.
The movie was very successful and earned him an award at the Peoples Film Festival’s Best International Film Award in Paris, France.
